HALITOSIS

Chronic halitosis or chronic bad breath is a condition afflicting approximately 25% of the population. Chronic halitosis can originate from bacteria attached to the back of the tongue which produces by-products that contributing to the characteristic smell.
More recently however, evidence has shown that halitosis originates more commonly from the bacteria which produce volatile gases within the gut contents. Evidence has shown that the use of bismuth can control malodour from the gut and improve or resolve chronic halitosis in patients.
